Fred Flintstone (The Flintstones)

Fred Flintstone is a classic cartoon character. But, whatever you yabba-dabba-do, don’t ask an artificial intelligence what he looks like. Despite that Flintstone is a kind-hearted prehistoric dad, here he’s nothing more than a soulless husk. And, while we haven’t watched the cartoon in a while, isn’t he supposed to have arms?

Daffy Duck (Looney Tunes)

Looney Tunes was so named for the wacky nature of its cartoons. But this nightmarish version of Daffy Duck would make anyone believe it’s a cartoon set in a lunatic asylum. Guffawing from his oversized mouth, hanging on a thin neck from his remarkably plump and realistic body, this AI image is truly deththpicable.

BoJack Horseman (BoJack Horseman)

BoJack Horseman is a depressed, alcoholic, sitcom has-been. And somehow AI has managed to capture that perfectly, whether that be his warped face or his apparently bloodstained hands. The fact that he seems to be standing in the middle of a concrete parking lot is the perfect finishing touch.

Louise Belcher (Bob’s Burgers)

The criminally-inclined youngest child of the Belcher clan, Louise is actually a sweet kid who’s never seen without her signature pink rabbit ears. But while she might be young, that doesn’t explain her minuscule facial features in this image. Except for her eyes, which bulge, frog-like, and seem to stare into your very soul.

Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty)

A twisted version of Back to the Future’s Doc Emmett Brown, Rick Sanchez is a mad, dimension-hopping scientist who believes himself to be god and engages in a sick, hedonistic lifestyle. So this version of him, which seems almost like a police mugshot, makes a lot of sense.

C. Montgomery Burns (The Simpsons)

Springfield’s oldest resident, at more than 100 years of age, Mr Burns is the owner of the powerplant and the mercurial boss of one Homer J Simpson. Incidentally, the radioactive element Radium was initially so popular that partygoers would rub the highly toxic element on their teeth to make them glow in the dark – which seems to be what the nuclear impresario has done here.

Peter Griffin (Family Guy)

Fat and irreverent, Peter Griffin is the titular character of Seth MacFarlane’s long-running Family Guy. But keen viewers of the show will recognise that not only does Griffin have eyes, but he also sports a white shirt. AI, however, clearly thinks that Peter runs around almost naked, wearing only a priest’s dog collar.

Daria Morgendorfer (Daria)

Caustic and wise beyond her years, high schooler Daria Morgendorfer originally appeared in Beavis & Butthead before getting her own, more drama-inflected spin-off. The series concluded with Daria heading off to college in Boston, where – according to this AI – she managed to survive a nuclear holocaust, though it left her facial features irrevocably scarred.

Daphne Blake (Scooby Doo)

For kids of all generations, Daphne Blake was the epitome of fashion-first elegance and feminity. Then, when the amateur sleuth was played by Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar in the noughties movies, the character became a bonafide crush for many. But just one look at this image is enough to make you say “Creepers!”

Turanga Leela (Futurama)

Planet Express’ combat boot-wearing, roundhouse-kicking, spaceship-piloting Turanga Leela is a first-rate captain with a sentimental side, as well as the love interest of series protagonist Fry. She’s also a mutant who has only one eye, which AI apparently can’t figure out. Robbed of her feminine features and determined nature, this isn’t the Leela we know. Or want to know.
